What is Naraquin™?
Naraquin™, a dietary phosphate binder plus renal support supplement for cats and dogs, is a proprietary blend of three phosphate binders: ferric citrate, calcium acetate, and chitosan. Omega-3 fatty acids and beta glucans are also included in the formulation to support renal health. Naraquin™ is available in an easy to administer sprinkle capsule.

What does Naraquin™ do?
The combination of active ingredients in Naraquin™ provides a multimodal approach to phosphate binding in cats and dogs. Utilizing everyday minerals and polysaccharides, Naraquin™ can bind with dietary phosphate to form an insoluble and non-absorbable compound subsequently excreted in the feces. Naraquin™ has three different phosphate binding actions for more ways to better balance the phosphate levels reaching the kidneys.
Along with its phosphate binding ability, Naraquin™ contains omega-3 fatty acids and beta glucans for renal health support. Omega-3s are commonly recommended to support renal health, and beta glucans modulate the oxidative stress response.
Phosphate Binders
Ferric citrate, calcium acetate, and chitosan are phosphate binders that work within the gastrointestinal tract. Phosphate from food sources is bound and excreted rather than absorbed.

Ferric citrate forms an insoluble compound when it binds with phosphate and may provide a source of iron for the body.
Calcium Acetate
Calcium salts, such as calcium acetate, have been widely used as phosphate binders. Calcium acetate may have a greater phosphate binding capacity than calcium carbonate and can bind phosphate over a wide range of pH levels.
Chitosan
Chitosan is a non-absorbable polysaccharide made from chitin, found in the shells of crabs and shrimp. It can bind multiple compounds in the gastrointestinal tract and is unique in binding byproducts of protein digestion, such as urea. Chitosan can then be excreted along with uremic toxins.
Directions for Use:
For Cats:
One capsule with each meal. Sprinkle on food.
For Dogs:
One capsule with each meal for each 25 pounds body weight. Sprinkle on food.
